Emergency Response Driving Instructor Training

Emergency Response Driver Training Ltd is a RoSPA accredited training body and all ERDT Courses are accredited by RoSPA.

The Emergency Response Driving Instruction training is accredited by RoSPA and has the same course content as the National Diploma in Emergency Response Driving Instruction accredited by RoSPA however there are some courses that cannot be assessed by a RoSPA examiner or it may not be cost effective to be assessed by RoSPA due to the location.

The courses are designed to provide the knowledge and skills required to deliver and assess emergency response driving.

We have the experience and skills to deliver Instructor training on all vehicles categories used by the Emergency Service.

Please note: Instructor training is only available to statutory Emergency Services who wish to deliver training to their staff and not on a commercial basis.

The emergency response driver Instructor training courses are accredited by RoSPA and written in-line with:

  • Section 19 of the UK Road Safety Act
  • The UK High Speed Driver Training (HSDT) codes of practice
  • Instructor Competency as per the HSDT codes of practice

We provide a free on-line study facility which assists the candidate’s pre-course learning and reduces course duration and costs.

Pre-Course Requirements

The courses are recommended for drivers with a minimum of 3 years experience and who have successfully completed an emergency response driver training course or re-assessment on the vehicle category they wish to deliver training on within a 3 year period prior to attending an Instructors course.

Final Assessment

The Instructor will be assessed by an Emergency Response Driver Training Ltd Senior Examiner.

Successful candidates will receive a certificate from ERDT Ltd which will list the RoSPA accredited course content written in-line with the HSDT Instructor competency, they will also receive an Instructor development portfolio in-line with the UK HSDT Instructor competency.

The courses are delivered by highly qualified Senior Ex-Emergency Driving Instructors with many years’ experience.

As part of our Instructor training and re-assessment courses we also offer the following qualifications:

SFJ (QCF) Level 3 Award in Education and Training (previously PTLLS)

SFJ (QCF) Level 3 Award in Assessing (previously A1 assessor)

Working in association with BAS Training associates Ltd we can offer the SFJ (QCF) Level 3 Award in Education and Training (previously PTLLS) and the SFJ (QCF) Level 3 Award in Assessing (previously A1 assessor) the awards will require the candidate to complete additional pre and post course work.

Please Note: Emergency response driver training courses using blue lights & sirens are not available to members of the public and any course enquiry must be submitted through your Emergency Service or organisation.
