Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving (FutureQuals)

The FutureQuals accredited Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving (QCF) has been developed to meet the requirements of the UK NHS Ambulance Service, it also meets the requirement for ambulance service drivers to claim exemptions under the Road Traffic Act and to operate to the specification of the high speed driver training regulations of the Department for Transport.

The Future Quals qualification is made up of two units, Level 2 Award in Ambulance Driving (QCF) and Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Ambulance Driving (QCF)

It will provide the learner with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to drive an ambulance vehicle in response to an emergency.

We provide a free on-line study facility which assists the candidate’s pre-course learning and reduces course duration and costs.


Course content Level 2 Award in Ambulance Driving (QCF) and Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Ambulance Driving (QCF).

  • Manage confrontational behaviour
  • Vehicle Navigation
  • The System of car control
  • Driving in the hours of darkness
  • Knowledge of legal exemptions
  • Emergency response driving

The Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF) Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving, minimum credits required to achieve the qualification: 23

Guided Learning Hours
The guided learning hours (GLH) for this qualification is 4 weeks: Min 197 – Max 197

Successful candidates will receive a FutureQuals Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving (QCF) This qualification is recognised by all NHS Services and Private Ambulance Services.
