Emergency Response Driver Training Ltd (ERDT) is the only Royal Society for The Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) accredited training provider that can offer a range of Emergency Response Driving (ERD) Instructor courses, including our National and International Diploma in Emergency Response Driving Instruction Accredited by RoSPA.

ERDT currently deliver training to over 80 Emergency Services, we have delivered our National and Internationally RoSPA Accredited Instructor training to Fire, Ambulance and Police Services in the UK and Worldwide including Dubai, Malaysia, Cayman Islands, South Africa and New Zealand.

Course Overview

All our ERD Instructor courses are written in-line with the High-Speed Driver Training (HSDT) codes of practice Instructor competencies and elements of Nationally recognised course content from the Level 3 in Education and Training and Assessing Competence in the Work Environment.

ERDT’s Emergency Response Driving Instructor Courses Accredited by RoSPA are non-vehicle or service specific therefore they can be delivered to all Emergency Services on all types for example:

  • Fire, Ambulance & Police Car / 4×4 & RRV
  • Fire Appliance & Airport Major Foam Vehicle
  • Ambulance & Ambulance RRV’s
  • Fire, Ambulance & Police Specialist Vehicles

The courses are designed to provide the knowledge and skills required to deliver and assess advanced driving techniques and emergency response driver training on the specific vehicle type you wish to deliver training on.

Pre-Course Requirements

The course is designed for drivers with a minimum of 3 years’ operational experience, a background in deliver training and assessments is advantages.

Course Content

  • Unit 1: Prepare, Driver and Manoeuvre Emergency Vehicles
  • ERD 1.1 Demonstrate advanced driving skills
  • Unit 2: Emergency Response Driving
  • ERD 1.2 Avoid skids when driving an emergency vehicle
  • ERD 1.3 Drive vehicles at high speed
  • ERD 1.4 Drive a vehicle in response to an emergency
  • ERD 2 Lesson Preparations & Delivery
  • ERD 3 Practical Instruction
  • ERD 4 Conduct Assessments
  • Optional Elements
  • ERD 1.5 Multiple vehicle response to an emergency
  • ERD 1.6 Drive a specialist vehicle in response to an emergency

Course Delivery

Training can be delivered 7 days a week at your location.

Further Information

Successful candidates will receive certificates and an Instructor development portfolio in-line with the HSDT Instructor competency.

The courses are delivered by highly qualified Ex-Emergency Services Driving Instructors with many years’ experience.

Please note: Instructor training is only available to Government/Local authority Emergency Services and Airport Fire Services who wish to deliver training to their staff and not on a commercial basis.
