Emergency Response Driver Training Ltd (ERDT) offers Cat C1 Ambulance driving courses to individuals, Ambulances Services and Collages & Universities.

Course Overview

Our C1 course is delivered in our IVECO Ambulance driver training vehicle, “learn in an Ambulance to drive an Ambulance”

Who needs a Cat C1 Licence?

Anyone who passed a car driving test on or after January 1st, 1997 that wishes to drive an Ambulance that weighs between 3500kg – 7500kg on the public roads.

Pre-Course Requirements

Prior to attending the course, you will have to be 18+, undertake a Medical and hold a C1 Provisional Licence and passed your theory and hazard perception test, know you are ready to attend the course and take your DVSA C1 driving test.

14 Hours (2 days) Course Cost

£650 + vat (£780 Inc. vat)


  • 14 hours one to one training using our Ambulance
  • Access to on-line theory test training
  • Midweek practical DVSA test
  • Training is available 7 days a week, you could train on Sat & Sun and sit your test on Mon.

Individual Courses

Will be delivered at our location near Wetherby Yorkshire, the location includes a suitable reversing area and a DVSA LGV driving test centre within 5 miles.
